August 25th, 2010

I hope you enjoyed the first installment of our Top Ten wine bloggers blog, here is the second half!

http://wineconversation.com/#tboard

Robert McIntosh started this blog back in 2006, the blog started as something fun but after sometime and the large amount of hits Robert decided to make the blog more serious. Creating a proper website to address his followers properly.

The blog approaches wine from another view other than reviews, he talks of sales tactics and his personal life giving readings a more personal account of wine. Wine conversation is a top blog due to its relaxed nature.

The writer of this blog gives a friendly feel to his posts by using his first name, Charlie, only. He doesn’t talk much about his personal life but that he felt he needed to create a wine blog for those of use out there whom are clueless about wine.

The blog takes a very factual approach to wine as there are a lack of pictures and Charlie is heavy on the information. If you enjoy reading about this subject and are happy to thoroughly investigate it, then this blog will be great for you. If you want something more bite-sized, this wouldn’t be the blog we recommended.

Denise Medrano is The Winesleuth an American ex-pat. Before the big move she had done a couple of wine courses which lead her to write the blog when she set foot on English ground.

This blog is great because Denise includes youtube videos where she can. The videos are not just about wine and what to eat with them but also interviews with wine makers and other wine lovers and trade events.

http://www.alastairbathgate.com/

Alastair Bathgate started his blog due to his love of wine after his love of food. The blog is generally amateur but in a good fashion as it makes the approach to wine feel simplistic if you are new to the web.

The blog has the odd picture but plenty of information for anyone with a keen interest in wines. Alastair writes about wine on his travel and posts quite often so there is always new information being written.

http://bordeaux-undiscovered.blogspot.com/

Nick Stephens has thirty years worth of passion behind his writing his blog talks mainly of Bordeaux wine. Nick writes about history, interest and family he is one of the eldest wine bloggers out there.

The blog has a family man feel to it, making the content feel more home grown rather than post’s about one mans views. He talks about the vines, prices and food that go with and around the wines differing it to other wines.

If you have any suggestions then don’t hesitate to comment or email about any bloggers or wines you enjoy with pizza.

You could also email in your wine reviews and which pizza from the Ristorante range you like to dine with. If the piece is interesting we may post your writing on here!

Our top ten wine blogs

August 12th, 2010

After working on our Pizza and Wine Guide we thought we would delve a bit deeper into the world of the grape and investigate some wine blogs and see what the other experts were saying…

First thing’s first, no two wine blogs are the same and the approach to wine is so different the choice of top ten was difficult.

Secondly, this blog will be split into two parts due to the vast amount of information about each blog. There is no order in which blog is our favorite they are just different points of view and aspects.

So sit back put your pizza in the oven and take 10 minutes to read our wine blog suggestions, we are sure you’ll find one to suit to your reading style.

Simon Woods is a wine journalist for The Financial Times, editor for Which? Wine Guide and wine freelancer. Other than writing in the media he has published two award winning books and managed to make time to tend to his blog.

The blog is my one of our favorites because more or less every blog contains a youtube run down of the wines, which are being reviewed. This adds a humorous but honest account of each wine.

Jamie Goode, wine journalist started this blog nine years ago. Jamie is London based and writes for national newspaper The Sunday Express. He works with other publications to contribute his award winning opinion on wines.

The blog has substantial information about wines, vineyards, international locations and restaurants. The information given is simple but effective which makes reading this blog relatively easy on the eyes.

Andrew Barrow a member of the UK based Circle of Wine Writers writes this blog. As well as a keen interest in wine and food, Andrew enjoys photography, this shows throughout the blog giving a more creative look to the posts.

The blog takes a simplistic but formal look at wine, as said above the photography gives the blog a more professional feel. The posts are always different and interesting including deals and even food recommendations

Douglas Blyde created this blog through love of wine, food and travel, in these areas he is a freelancer also. He boasts an iPhone application for Top Table as one of his conquests.

The blog is written in a formal manner and approaches wine with class and wit. He tends to write more about wine makers and events rather than reviews as he mingles in London’s wine social circle.

http://www.rebeccagibb.com/

Rebecca Gibb is a freelance food, travel and wine writer. She won Young Writer of the Year award back in 2006 when she had started the blog and believes her talents lie in finding exclusive wines.

Her blogs are written in a PDF format meaning they are much longer than a normal post from other bloggers. However due to the demanding length she posts much less often then other wine bloggers.
